This video demonstrates automating book note-taking in Obsidian using the QuickAdd plugin to link highlights and reading notes. Callum (Waterloots) shows importing a macro, embedding quotes by page number, and applying the method to typed notes and voice transcriptions so quotes retain context and connect into your knowledge system.
– Install and import the QuickAdd JSON package and enable the command.
– Use a dual workflow: reading notes (ideas) + highlight notes (source quotes) and embed quotes above notes.
– Works with e-readers, book-darts and voice memos; enables organized synthesis and downstream writing.
Quotes:
It’s almost like a conversation back and forth between the author and me.
All I have to do is add page numbers — then Obsidian links quotes and notes automatically.
You can just speak your reading notes into a voice memo and the plugin will organize the transcription.
